Conscious Planting—Allowing Plants to Settle and Speak

Bringing a new plant into your space is more than just interior decorating—it’s welcoming a living presence into your home. Too often, we rush to place it where it "looks best," but what if we slowed down and treated it like the being it is?

After transport, a plant may feel the stress of a new environment. Give it time to settle. Let it rest. Then, take a moment to connect. Sit with it quietly. Breathe. Observe. And ask—not with words necessarily, but with your intuition: Where would you like to be? Where will you thrive?

This small act of attunement builds a relationship. It transforms the plant from decor into a companion. And when you listen, you may be surprised by how clearly it speaks.

I used my pendulum that had hidden itself for ages and appeared last week as I was considering what to plant in this section of the garden.

Heading back from Plovdiv in the village of Lozen was a spectacular array of colour at the side of the road, plants and flowers of all shapes, sizes and texture. I've wanted a bouganvillia for ages and to my delight there they were. I'm hoping they will thrice through the summer and survive our Obidim winter.
